About Donating

Literacy & Learning Day is organized BY parents FOR parents.. and parents also play a large role in ensuring we can offer this exceptional day free of charge.

We rely on school councils, parent associations, community leagues and other donors to raise our annual budget for the day of $75,000.

All donations of cash and in kind services can be made and are gratefully accepted. All donations are acknowledged on the day. We have several levels of donation and recognition for your consideration:

** All Printed Materials are subject to Time-Sensitive Deadlines.  If donations are received past these deadlines, those forms of recognition may not be available.

*Donations of over $5,000
If your organization is considering a donation of $5,000 or over, and the donations will be drawn from proceeds generated from a casino or other licensed Gaming event, some special procedures may be required. For donations under $5000.00, the donation must still be on your Approved Use of Proceeds list. If you have questions about these procedures, please contact Wendy Keiver (ph: 780-476-0078) and we can assist you.

The procedures are as follows:

  1. If your organization has not identified that the casino proceeds will be used in part to make a donation to Literacy & Learning Day, you will need to fill in and send to Gaming form 5506 "Request to Amend Use of Gaming Proceeds"
  2. Your organization will also need to fill out form 5503 for a donation within Alberta and have this certified by a Commissioner for Oaths. If you do not know anyone who is a Commission of Oaths, please contact us and we will assist you in locating one.
  3. You will need to contact us on 476-0078 so that we can complete a Recipient Agreement (form 5507) for you. We will arrange to get you the Recipient Agreement for submission to the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission.
  4. You will need to fax this paperwork (forms 5503, 5506 (if applicable) and 5507) to the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission at fax no. (780) 447-8912. It is also helpful if the Organizing Committee of Literacy & Learning Day receives a copy of this paperwork. Our fax number is (780) 472-8020 . Any questions you might have regarding Gaming requirements beyond these forms can be directed to AGLC staff by calling (780) 447-8751.
  5. AGLC will grant approval following which the donation can be made
